Data Systems Intern

Position Summary

The Arkansas Foodbank is the state’s largest non-governmental provider of emergency food aid. We assist people in 33 counties across central and southern Arkansas. The Arkansas Foodbank operates as a distribution hub for over 450 partner agencies in 33 counties in central and south Arkansas. These agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, youth programs, senior centers, schools and emergency shelters. Foodbank member agencies service approximately 62,119 meals a day—touching the lives of 280,000 individuals every year.

The Data Systems Intern will assist the Data Manager with the implementation and maintenance of our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and client level data system. These systems enable us to improve Arkansas Foodbank programs and service people who are hungry. This position will assist with the database for the Service Insights program and will work with the Data Manager to implement exploration tools, dashboards, and other data visualizations to deliver insights.

The Data Systems Intern is a vital member of the Information Technology department and collaborates with them to support the implementation of new strategies, programs or initiatives. This position will be comfortable learning new technology, as well as an eagerness to utilize Arkansas Foodbank software systems. They will possess strong interpersonal skills, a spirit of collaboration and team work, and a commitment to hunger relief.

This is an on-site position. Intern start date will be in January

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Sophomore or higher classification
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited College/University majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business Technology or similar field of study at the time of application.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, hand controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position offers some flexibility and minimal remote opportunity.
