Marketing and Volunteer Services Intern

Position Summary


The Marketing and Volunteer Services Intern will assist with such tasks as supporting our volunteer program, attending community fundraising events, social media, and administrative support. While assisting with a wide range of projects, interns will gain substantial hands-on experience and specific training in many aspects of nonprofit development and marketing. This position will work 30 hours per work from June 1 through August 4 or a 9-week consecutive time span agreed upon between employee and the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Marketing and Volunteer Services Intern will be comfortable learning new technology, as well as an eagerness to utilize Arkansas Foodbank software systems. They will possess strong interpersonal skills, a spirit of collaboration and teamwork, and a commitment to hunger relief.

  • Assist with the 2023 Summer Cereal Drive including working with donors, media, and staff onsite at collection events as well helping with administrative support of the event.
  • Drafting content for the Arkansas Foodbank website, blogs, social media pages, etc.
  • Recruiting restaurants for 2024 restaurant month campaign.
  • Assisting with daily volunteer orientation, recruitment, and stewardship.
  • Facilitating organizational needs through the marketing and communications ticketing system in conjunction with the MarComm team.
  • Exemplify Arkansas Foodbank values and mission during community projects and at public, social, and business gatherings.
  • Carry out general office duties, as they apply to the aforementioned areas of responsibility on an as-needed basis, including photocopying, filing, faxing and preparation and distribution of correspondence.
  • Attend required agency and department meetings, training, and conferences.
  • Available to work flexible schedule during and leading up to events.
  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated through written work and speaking experience with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and carry out work independently, and to identify appropriate solutions to problem situations.
  • Motivated to meet and exceed fundraising goals and quotas.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of personalities and leadership styles.
  • Ability to multitask in a changing work environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and operate office equipment.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.

Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred for the candidate or employee, however, other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of management.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Development interns will be actively enrolled in a University/College.
  • Skilled in the use of computer operations and software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to operate vehicles.
