Warehouse Specialist 2

The Arkansas Foodbank is the state’s largest non-governmental provider of emergency food aid. We assist people in 33 counties across central and southern Arkansas.  The Arkansas Foodbank operates as a distribution hub for over 450 partner agencies in 33 counties in central and south Arkansas. These agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, youth programs, senior centers, schools and emergency shelters. Foodbank member agencies service approximately 62,119 meals a day—touching the lives of 280,000 individuals every year.

We are currently seeking a Warehouse Specialist 2 Fulfillment/QA Lead who under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, plans, organizes, and monitors storage and distribution of all items received and distributed ensuring a smooth and consistent warehouse operation in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements.  This is a safety sensitive position.

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Specialist 2 will report to the Warehouse Manager and have the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and monitor appropriate activities of the Arkansas Foodbank warehouse in accordance with funding requirements, regulations, applicable laws, and Arkansas Foodbank policies and procedures. 
  • Perform and oversee warehouse inventory control of incoming and outgoing products. Supervises daily cycle counts on all palletized product in the cold and dry warehouse.
  • Supervises on a daily basis the entire pick cycle including the WAP drops and other drops, pick tickets, researching outs on pick tickets, posting pick tickets, daily cycle counts and the QA of agency orders.
  • Under the direction of Warehouse management, correct any mistakes discovered and/or informed of.
  • Use CERES database to research items on agency orders, post pick tickets, run reports and track product movement.
  •  Ensure the overall maintenance, cleanliness, organization, and operation of the warehouse and assigned areas (ex. clear aisles of debris, stack empty pallets, return pallet jacks to charging area.). Report problems to the Warehouse Manager, including rodents or other pests. 
  • Ensure the daily inspection, maintenance, and cleanliness of all warehouse equipment and vehicles. Report any problems to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks and filling orders when needed.
  • Oversee quality control on a daily basis. Supervises the end of pick cycle quality assurance checks.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to warehouse staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure security of building and inventory.
  • Safely operate industrial lift trucks and other motorized and non-motorized equipment to unload trailers, transport, select, stock, and load heavy/large merchandise.
  • Assist with the oversight of warehouse operations when Warehouse Manager or Assistant Warehouse Manager is out of the office. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.  B.S. or B.A. degree in Business Management, Industrial Management or related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word and Excel.
  • At least four years’ experience in Warehousing, Receiving, Inventory Control, or Materials Management with at least two years’ experience in supervisory capacity preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics: 

  • Strong knowledge of Receiving and Warehouse methods and practices.  
  • Knowledge of Bar Code Technology and Electronic Data interchange a plus. 
  • Knowledge and concern for safety issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively, oral and written format with other departments and agency representatives. 
  • Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and operate office equipment.
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to lift and/or move 65 pounds.
  • Ability to be forklift certified on Arkansas Foodbank equipment. 
  • Current, valid Arkansas driver’s license and proof of insurance.
