Inventory Control Specialist

The Arkansas Foodbank is the state’s largest non-governmental provider of emergency food aid. We assist people in 33 counties across central and southern Arkansas.  The Arkansas Foodbank operates as a distribution hub for over 450 partner agencies in 33 counties in central and south Arkansas. These agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, youth programs, senior centers, schools and emergency shelters. Foodbank member agencies service approximately 62,119 meals a day—touching the lives of 280,000 individuals every year.

We are currently seeking an Inventory Control Specialist who is responsible for carrying out various data entry processes for inbound and outbound inventory items by accurately entering data into the database system in a timely manner.  This process ensures continued operations and avoids products or inventory shortages.  The Inventory Control Specialist must implement and follow a control system to reduce food sensitive items for transfer to agencies..

Position Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist  will report to the Inventory Control Manager and have the following essential duties and responsibilities:

1. Enters data in computer system in a timely and accurate manner.  Data will be derived from receiving forms prepared by Operations and Warehouse personnel.  Sets up and code inventory items via item card. 

2. Assist in regular Cycle Counts and Year-end physical inventory. 

3. Ensures the accurate processing of all internal inventory transfers, including reclassification of inventory items. 

4. Generates pallet tags based on receiving entries.

5. Generate cycle count sheets as needed.

6. Ensures that proper receiving procedures are used.

7. Clerical duties including filing documents and maintains filing system.

8. Tracks Food and Cereal Drives inventory through Ceres and Excel.

9. Troubleshoots inventory related issues with order processing.

10. Processes monthly billing for agency retail pickup. 

11. Process all incoming donations.

12. Communicates with departmental managers regarding inventory levels and locations.

13. Assist with journal entries.

14. Serve as backup for Kitting in CERES.   

Education and/or Experience:

1. Associate degree or equivalent two-year college or technical school degree preferred, high school diploma or general education (G.E.D.) required;

2. One year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

1. Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize work.

2. Strong data entry skills alpha and numeric.

3. Strong keyboarding skills.

4. Skilled with computer operations and Microsoft Office, with particular experience in Word, Excel, other spreadsheet and data base programs. 

5. Must be detail oriented.

6. Ability to relate across departments connected to the warehouse, and with other members of staff within working environment. 

7. Ability to adapt promptly to any change in working condition and to get problems resolved without delay.

8. Working knowledge of inventory control practices.
